What do the Experts want?
The world of energy efficiency assessment is calling for change and improvement. Experts are advocating for major reforms of EPCs and the need for better trained assessors.
EPCs play a crucial role in determining the energy efficiency of buildings, providing valuable information on their environmental impact. However, there is a growing concern that the current system lacks accuracy and consistency.
To address this issue, experts are pushing for significant reforms to enhance the credibility and reliability of EPCs. They argue that a more robust methodology, incorporating advanced technologies such as Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP), is needed to ensure accurate assessments.
Furthermore, there is a pressing need for better trained assessors who possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in energy efficiency. By investing in comprehensive training programs, we can empower assessors to carry out thorough evaluations and provide accurate recommendations for improving building performance.
It’s time to embrace these necessary changes and strive towards a future where EPCs serve as reliable indicators of energy efficiency. Together, with improved methodologies and highly skilled assessors, we can create sustainable built environments that have a positive impact on our planet.
What does our Leading Expert Think?
Yes, yes yes, education is exactly what our industry needs. Not only assessors but all interested parties. Education drives long-term economic growth, spurs innovation, strengthens institutions, and fosters social cohesion.
The quicker we improve the energy efficiency process, the closer we get to our net zero goal.
What is an EnergyPerformance Certificate?
The EPC is a crucial legal requirement for any property that is to be sold, let, or constructed. The EPC measures a property’s energy efficiency on a scale of A-G and is valid for 10 years.
A better rating indicates a lower impact on the environment through Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions. The average EPC rating for properties in the UK is band D. The EPC also provides practical recommendations on ways to improve the rating.
