What is a BREL Report and Photographic Evidence?

A BREL Report is a required output of the SAP Calculations that identifies a domestic property’s energy efficiency against the Part L minimum targets. The BREL Reports are produced at the “As Designed” and “As Built” stages of the build.

Photographic evidence of specified details are required prior to them being concealed or “closed up” to be included with the BREL Report when being submitted to Building Control for approval.

These photographs need to be taken with geolocation enabled to confirm the location, date and time of each image, and be of sufficient quality and high enough resolution to allow a qualitative audit of the detail. They must be made available to the Building Control body, the energy assessor, and the building owner.

When is the best time to get us involved?

The sooner you can get the reassurance that your project plans are on track to deliver a compliant outcome, the better. For that reason alone, getting us involved early makes a lot of sense. We can also offer advice and guidance on other areas of your project.

How quickly can I have my BREL Report?

It depends on the size of your property however, on average it takes about 10 working days to complete at the design stage and a few hours at the as built stage. We will require a full set of plans and building details to start the process.
